Izhora Pipe Mill
600 000
Production capacity pipes in year

AO Izhora Pipe Mill (ITZ), located in Izhora Plants Industrial Zone in Kolpinsky District of St. Petersburg, produces straight seam electric welded pipes with external and internal coatings. External diameter of pipes ranges between 508 and 1420 mm, and maximum pipe length is 18.3 m. Annual production volume is up to 600 thousand tonnes.

Plant History:

Izhora Pipe Mill was built in 2006 for approximately $600 million. President of Russia Vladimir Putin attended the inaugural launch event on July 14.

Competitive Advantages:

The biggest competitive advantage of Izhora Pipe Mill is its continuous production process from slabs to strips to finished large diameter pipes.

Slabs manufactured at Cherepovets Steel Mill of PAO Severstal are delivered to Wide Mill 5000 of Cherepovets Steel Mill Roll Plant 3 (located in the same industrial zone in Kolpinsky District of St. Petersburg). Then slabs are  processed into strips and sent to an ERW plant, which produces large diameter pipes (LDP) from strips.

Key Projects:

Izhora Pipe Mill supplied pipes for the second phase of the East Siberia — Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline in 2011 under contract with PAO  Transneft. In 2012 Izhora Pipe Mill supplied production for the second phase of the “Polar Region – Purpe” pipeline and repair and maintenance needs.

PAO Gazprom used Izhora Pipe Pill products to build the second line of Nord Stream, first and second lines of Ukhta-Torzhok, Bovanenkovo-Ukhta, Pochinki-Gryazovets and Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok pipelines in 2011. In  2012 — second phase of Bovanenkovo-Ukhta pipeline, Ukhta-Torzhok and  Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok main pipelines, Southern Corridor gas pipeline system, Power of Siberia and reconstruction objects.

Innovative Technologies:

Izhora Pipe Mill is a customer-focused company meeting the most stringent product quality requirements and developing innovative products and  technologies. Among the competitive advantages of Izhora Pipe Mill are 18−meter large diameter pipes providing an opportunity to reduce number of welded connections in pipelines, and the use of highest-grade high-strength strips.

Izhora Pipe Mill developed and deployed a custom process to produce pipes from K65 grade steel for Arctic oil and gas deposits. The next-generation pipes are designed to withstand operational pressures up to 120 MPa and significantly reduce overall steel consumption. These LDPs are used to build Bovanenkovo-Ukhta trunkline in extreme environmental conditions of Yamal Peninsula.

Izhora Pipe Mill produces unique products for advanced pipeline projects:

•pipes with steel grades up to X100
•pipes for line oil pipelines with improved corrosion and cold resistance
•pipes with high deformation capacity for sections of gas transportation pipelines used for the seismically unstable areas
